Quick Thoughts #9-Steven's Birthday Bomb (Steven Universe) Part 1

Steven's birthday bomb is finally over.
(And like always I'm very late at covering it. I actually missed the entire thing on TV and so I had to watch it online. So sorry about that. I've also been moving to so that has stopped me from watching it until now.)
Man was it something. I don't wanna waste to much of your time as we have 5 episodes we have to get through. So let's just get on with it and see what Steven's birthday has to offer.

First on the list is The Answer.
Plot-It's Steven's birthday so Garnet wakes up Steven at midnight to tell him the story of how Ruby and Sapphire met. If I go into anymore detail we get into spoiler territory.
Good-We get to see how Ruby and Sapphire met. We see their relationship develop and grow over a period of 11 minutes. I think they did a pretty good job of that. This is pretty much the heart and soul of the episode so it better be good. Luckily Steven Universe never disappoints (Well it never disappoints me anyway, don't know about you......)
It actually could've been stronger but they only have 11 minutes and you know what it was still enjoyable so I can't bash it or say it was a disappointment as it was still well made and heartwarming.
To be honest I'm not sure what else to praise here. The episode was pretty much seeing Ruby and Sapphire develope their relationship, which was really well done.
The characters are good as always. And we even get to see more of Rose which is never a bad thing.
The story is well made and well paced and this goes for the entire show in general but I like how Ruby and Sapphire play off each other since their polar opposites.

Meh-The song was ok. I didn't like the flow of it mostly. It just didn't sound good to me. The singing was fine but something about it just sounded off to me. It did do a good job of developing Ruby and Sapphire's relationship and the singing was good so that's why it's not in the Bad category just Meh.
Seeing part of homeworld was pretty cool but there was something off about it. Specifically the people that aren't of focus.
I mean they're just sillohettes. I don't know if to chock this up as either a creative decision as maybe they're gems we haven't seen yet and will learn about and they didn't want to give anything away, or maybe they were being lazy.

Creative decision or just plain lazy
You make the call!

There was nothing bad enough to put in the bad section but overall there's not much to this episode.
It's just Saaphire and Ruby developing a relationship and it works
It was a nice little episode and it was very enjoyable.
Overall-8/10

Now we get to the second episode Steven's Birthday.

Not so fast.
Uh God, you again. Look I know you're out for revenge and everything but can you hold off for just 5 more minutes while I finish this second review.
You talk so bravely yet you seem so meek.
How poetic.
You're scared of me aren't you. You don't know what I could do or when I'm gonna do it. You talk bravely to distract from your inner fear.
Ok, Doctor Phil you got me. I'm scared. You read me like an open book. But can you blame me here, you are threatening me. How else should I act.
You acted exactly as I expected you would. You haven't changed one bit. You're still the same coward I knew all those years ago.
You hide behind a blog to give your opinions instead of  giving them in person.
You're weak, Evan.
Shut Up! I'm not just a book for you to read. There's more to me than that.
You're right, but no matter how much more there is to you you'll still always be cowardly, and everything you do, every decision you make, will be based on how scared and meek you are. They will be based on your many fears and insecurities. I know you better than you think Evan. I've been waiting for this. A moment to strike and take away what you hold most dear, just as you did to me.
What did I even do? Who are you?
Just enjoy you're last moments writing this blog cause soon everything you worked for well be gone. Just thought I'd give you a little heads up. It just wouldn't be as fun if I didn't build up the tension and make you even more fearful than you already are. I'll be back right after my plan is completed.
Stop, what are you talking about?
It's gone isn't it. Whoever It is.
What's it gonna do? Something to the blog?
I can't do anything to it. I don't know what he or she looks like, I don't even know if it's a person.
I can't see them.

Ugh what am I to do? What can I do?
Calm down Evan. Take a deep breath.
*sigh* Ok, I'm fine. I can deal with this later there is nothing I can do now, I should finish the review.
Next up is the big event, Steven's Birthday.
Plot-Steven is turning 14 and the gems have a celebration. Now remember in my review of Back to the Barn how I harped on the fact that the gems were wasting time instead of making the drill to get to the cluster.
Here they make up for the fact that the gems aren't working on the drill by having Peridot work on it during the celebration, so they still stay on schedule. So unlike Back to the Barn I didn't have the Cluster constantly harping at me in the back of my mind. Anyway Steven overhears Connie and his dad talking about how they have no idea how he will grow up and that he may not grow like a normal human. This doesn't make Steven happy. I mean if you found out there's a chance your friends would grow up and you'd still be in the body of a little kid you'd wouldn't be happy either. What if they stop hanging out with you or liking you. Those are some of the worries that this episode touches upon. Well afterwards it seems that Steven has hit a mysterious growth sprout. He's taller and his voice is deeper. And that's pretty much what this episode is about in a nutshell without giving away too much.
Well before I go into too much more detail here's the Good, the Bad, and the Meh.

Good-This is a very emotional episode but you feel a more subtle emotion than you do while watching an episode like say So Many Birthdays. Speaking of which if you originally saw my speculations for this Steven bomb you know that I thought this episode would be a direct a rip off of So Many Birthdays. In reality though I didn't get a So Many Birthdays vibe from this episode. He concept may sound a bit similar on paper but the way they execute it is in a completely different fashion. To be honest I may enjoy this episode more than So Many Birthdays it's that good.
You can really relate to Steven and his struggle in this episode. He's a really reasonable character. He's in the awkward position of being 2 different races and having to try and be both a human and a gem.
We also get some reinforcement with Connie and Steven's relationship. They share some really nice scenes here. I love the connection these two have and this episode does a good job of showcasing it. It's sweet and touching but also realistic.
The rest of the characters are great as well.
And we also see how more Greg and again this episode just provides reinforcement of Stevens relationship with his dad and how much Greg truly cares for Steven.
This is an episode built on characters and the characters along with the relationships they share are so enjoyable and amazingly well done. The story is also a nice one and is pretty emotional as well but like I said a more subtle emotion than other episodes.
It's a darn good episode. In fact I feel it deserves a place in my top 10. (Which is a list I really should do someday.)
It's a good, emotional episode with deep, fun entertaining characters and a great story to go along with it.
As a side note it's also just great to see the gems through Steven a party even though they don't celebrate birthdays for themselves.
Another side: They bring back the lucky crown from So Many Birthdays.
Another Side Note: I mentioned before how I wanted Connie and Peridot to interact no matter how briefly. They both have appearances in this episode but they don't see each other. Which kinda sucks Abbi would love to see how that would go down, but I'm not holding it against the episode.

Meh-I only have one minor nitpick with this episode and that's that the gems nor Greg seemed too worried about this 'growth sprout' that literally happened in seconds. I guess you can defend this by saying that since Steven is literally something never seen before unpredictable things like that will happen and the gems just didn't think much of it. Still maybe they should've done more than act slightly surprised. Bit whatever it doesn't detract from the episode that much. Just something I happened to notice.

Overall-9.5/10
So yeah phenomenal episode. Brilliantley made, entertaining episode.
It's definitely a good one. It doesn't add at all to the current story arc about he cluster but it does reinforce characters relationships for the entire series and it's still a fun episode either way.

So what's next?

Evan!

Kevin? Man it's been.........only like a few weeks. Not tha long at all actually.

I know but I think I know who this mysterious person coming onto the blog is.

You do? Who is it?

I've been your guardian angel since the day you were born. If memory serves I once recall you hanging out with a girl named Adora.

How do you know it's her?

Well she said she knew you before and that was really the only person I knew that you use to really hang out with a lot when you were younger that you haven't kept in contact with in years.

Adora.....ADORA! Oh, I remember her. We used to hang out a lot when we were little kids. Yeah the others would make fun of us and sing that annoying kissing in a tree song.
We used to play games and watch cartoons together all the time. She was like my best friend. I don't remember what happened win our relationship though. We just sorta grew outta touch I guess.
It can't be her there's no way such a douchebag could be Adora.

People change over the course of many years Evan. For better or for worse.

I refuse to believe she'd do this. Play on all my insecurities just to go back at me. She was too nice.

Guess who's back.

Oh great, it's you. Guess this means you're done with your master plan.
Hello there.

Uhhhh, who's this?

Oh that's just Kevin, he's a......good friend I guess you could say.

Ha, well word of advice Kevin, you should leave before you get betrayed by this fool.

I know Evan well enough to know that he would not do such a thing.

Well obviously you don't know his true colors. Trust me it happened to me it'll happen to you as well.

Well, it will be quite hard for Evan to get rid of me, Adora.

What did you just say?

Adora. That is your name isn't it.

How.....how did you know.

Wait a minute. Adora, like he one from elementary school. The one I use to always hang out with and laugh with. The one I use to be able to open up to and talk to when no one else would listen. The one who would let me geek out over video games or cartoons even though you couldn't care less. That Adora.

Yes Evan. I am that Adora. And I assume you remember what you did to me.

I......I don't. I don't remember a thing.

Typical, you always had a problem with stuff like that. You'd alter or comepletley forget about memories where you were in the wrong cause you couldn't handle it.
I guess it doesn't matter anymore this blog will be dead in a few minutes and the thing you care about he most will be gone. Have fun.
Allow me to steal your phrase
Peace.

Wait you really think I care about this blog more than anything else? Adora?.......Adora?
She's gone.

How are ya feeling.

I just can't believe it....what did I do to make her like that.

To be continued in the next episode of Quick Thoughts with reviews on the rest of the Steven Bomb 4 episodes.
See us then.

The Sum of His Parts (Teen Titans)-Animated Critic #9

Show-Teen Titans
Episode Title-The Sum of His Parts
Air Date-August 23rd 2003
Season 1
Episode 5

Teen Titans
TEEN FRICKIN TITANS.
Oh my god I loved this show as a kid. To be honest I only recently took the time to go back and re watch it and it was just as great as I remember. The characters are all colorful and unique, the stories are deep and fun, the fight scenes awesome, and there is just so much to praise. It really is up there with some of my favorite cartoons.
My favorite episode is a hard one to choose but I decided to review this episode as it has a great message at the end (the opposite of the last episode I reviewed which had a  really downer message.)
So take a seat on the nostalgia train as we dive right into The Sum of His Parts.

The episode starts at a park.
There the Titans are enjoying a delicious picnic.
This first scene is mostly just the Titans interacting. The characters are all so well made and the relationships they share are just so endearing. This is a really nice scene. Sometimes all we need is to see the characters play off each other which was really the heart of the show.
Anyway Starfire seems to be obsessed with the mustard.
Oh yeah can't forget to mention that the comedy is also great. Honestly it's not one of the shows high points but it still cracks out a funny joke every now and then. And even then it's still funnier than a lot of shows that are supposed to be made for comedy.
*Cough* *Cough* Family Guy *Cough*
So we get another fun scene with the Titans playing Football. It's just another nice scene with them interacting which by the way will make the end of this episode much more powerful.
I just also wanna point out how cool it is seeing them play football with their powers.
Dude, I think it's physically impossible to be cooler than a dinosaur playing football.

However the game does not end well as Cyborg runs out of power and falls to the ground.
But enough about that, it's time for the theme song.
Come on I know you know the words.
When there's trouble you know who to call.........
What, no. You just want to get on with the episode. Fine but the theme song is awesome and you know it.
So anyway we see that Cyborgs reserved energy supply is coming on.
When he gets up the others rush towards him obviously worried about him.
Cyborg explains that there is nothing to worry about. His energy cells are just running out and he needs a new battery. He says he has to switch it out every couple of years and that it's just "a natural part of being unnatural"
Man......I kinda just wanna give this guy a hug.
So he goes back to get a new battery telling the others to have fun without him.
On his way back he sees a little kid claiming to be just like him as he has a prosthetic arm.
Nah, I kid, but wouldn't that be awesome.
The kid actually looks like this.
The kid also seems to be a big fan.
Cyborg gets an alert that there's a crime and tells the kid he has to go. So we cut to the villain of the week for this episode, Mumbo-Jumbo. I love this guy. He's not really meant to be a complex, deep, or threatening villain he's just meant to be pure fun (this episode has another villain who is supposed to be complex.)
As I was saying though this guy is pure fun. I love him.
He's also voiced by the same guy that voices Spongebob, Tom Kenny.
Anyway he steals a diamond and runs to a junkyard where the other Titans are waiting for him. We then get a fight scene. Cyborg shows up in the middle of it though.
Robin is obviously worried since he didn't get to recharge but Cyborg says that it's fine as he has an external battery pack.
Back to the fight scene. It's good. This show is an action show after all so the fight scenes better be good. Luckily most cartoons based on DC comics seem to get that right.
But Mumbo-Jumbo just makes this fight so much more fun. His tricks are just so fun to watch.
I mean look at that. He's using fricking bunnies as a weapon. Fricking bunnies.
It's just so much fun watching him. The way he moves and talks also helps with that.
So Cyborg goes to face him head on.
Unfortunately he gets squirted with water.
Obviously the battery can't get wet so it loses power. Leaving Cyborg with no more energy. So he powers down.
Mumbo gets in a trash truck and drives away. The Titans follow behind thinking that he has Cyborg. In reality Cyborg fell in the garbage.

A mysterious figure comes by and takes Cyborg.
Cyborg wakes up later. We then see who the mysterious figure was. His name is Fixit.
He's.....also voiced by Tom Kenny. Seriously, wow. I can kinda believe Mumbo but if you compare most of Tom's other voices to this one they are on opposite ends of the voice spectrum. Just goes to show the talent this man has.
Any way he's the other enemy of the week for this episode. What makes him more interesting though is that he thinks what he's doing is good. He doesn't think he's evil.
What is it exactly that makes him the villian, well we'll get to that when we get to that.
He apparently fixed Cyborg. Cyborg looks around and sees all kind of other robots.
Including this one.
Yes even after almost a year I'm still not over how stupid this was.

They actually look like this.
Fixit apparently collects parts thrown in the garbage and uses them to build these.
In his own words, things come to him broken and he fixes them.
Cyborg thinks it's about time to leave as his friends may be worried about him. He thanks Fixit and is about to leave but Fixit stops him saying he still has repairs he needs to make on him.
Cyborg says he feels fine but says he'll stay anyway. He tries to call the other Titans but Fixit pulls some kind of techno magic and messes with Cyborg's arm phone thing.
This convinces him that there really is something wrong with him. He stays and hopes the Titans won't be worried about him.
Fixit says they won't.

We cut back to the Titans who are in the middle of being worried about Cyborg as they continue to chase Mumbo down.
Fourtenetly he's very easy to follow.
A mailbox spitting out a rabbit.
Nah, that can't be Mumbo.
I especially like this screen shot here.
That woman doesn't even seem the slightest bit worried about what's going on.
Hey, you know what they say, sometimes you just gotta go with the flow.

The Titans find Mumbo stealing money from an ATM.
Mumbo runs off and the Titans chase.

Back to Cyborg.
Fixit keeps talking about removing "the biological components" of Cyborg.
Cyborg doesn't like the sound of that so he tries to leave. Fixit uses his technopathy though to make his robots stop Cyborg.
They then proceed to tie him up.
He tells Fixit he's making a mistake and that removing the biological components would take away everything that makes him who he is.
Removing these biological components will take away his humanity.
Fixit says he's being foolish and shows him his new robot parts.
You can just hear and feel the genuine worry and fear in Cyborg's voice.
You can hear he's really scared that his humanity could be taken from him.
It makes you feel worried for him.
That and you can really relate to Cyborg so when something like this happens to him you can't help but to feel worried.

Back to the rest of the Titans.
They get in a fight with Mumbo.
Like I said before the fight scenes are good.
The Titans come out on top however and break Mumbo's wand. This causes Mumbo to revert to a normal form.
They see he doesn't have Cyborg so the Titans go back to the dump to look for him.
Oh but before that Mumbo gets a really funny line which I won't spoil.
This episode does really have a good mix of comedy and drama. In fact the entire series does.

Back to Cyborg he manages to escape his confines. However Fixit's technopathy allows him to capture Cyborg again.
Cyborg manages to pull off Fixit's robe though while trying to reach out to him.
Under it is living biological parts.
Fixit covers it up and says the biological components are getting worse in Cyborg.

Back to the Titans we see them traversing the garbage can that Cyborg fell into. Unfortunately some robots try to stop them in their path.
So we get a brief fight scene.

Back to Cyborg
That didn't take long.
Cyborg continues to tell Fixit he's making a mistake. That he wants his humanity and that it makes him who he is.
Fixit says that he will still have his memories after the operation and tries to store Cyborg's memories.
He sees the memories though which causes him to fall backwards in pain.
Really it's just a brief clips of the park scene from the beginning so I don't have to take new pictures. Yay for being lazy.

Oh, you thought I was joking.
No man I was serious.

Anyway Fixit falls back in pain. This also causes the robots the others were fighting to power down. He says he forgot how amazing life is through the eyes of a human.
This message man. Oh my god. I would like to remind you this show was targeted towards kids. Do you know how easy it could've been to say "eh, kids will buy anything we don't have to try" but no they put their heart and soul into it. As a result it's still remembered as a classic.
But back on track this message is an amazing one. Life is beautiful.
I'm not saying its perfect or that it's fair but it is a beautiful thing.
Life can be a constant struggle and you will have moments where you just wanna give up for whatever reason.
But if you hold out a little longer you will find happiness and beauty.
And it's really the small moments that matter the most. For example the thing that makes Fixit see how beautiful life is is that he sees the entire day Cyborg had at the park. It's small moments like that where you just have fun with your friends and loved ones or your alone enjoying a good book or nature or anything really that make life something special.
The small moments that we tend to ignore but when we look back on them they just make us so happy.
Do I sound preachy. I'm sorry if you think so it's just I know so many people who complain about the way life is going for them. Who focus on the hardships of life.
People who have even thought about giving up and in turn start self harming or thinking about suicide.
All because of life's hardships.
There is plenty of beauty in life though.
You just gotta look for it.
Like I said I've been there. I haven't gone into depression, but I know how hard life can be.
Life is very confusing. Just the way things work out.
Good guys get punished, the bad ones get by Scott-free etc...
Life can be stressful, embarrassing, hurtful, and brutal.
But if you can overcome those challenges you can just sit back and enjoy the beauty that is there.
There are good people out there and some truly amazing things can happen if you keep moving forward.
But just take the time to admire the many small things that make this world so fascinating.
The plants, the creatures, the people that live here, the small happy moments that we barely give any thought to. If you keep looking you will find beauty and value.
There is nothing more complex or amazing than a human life.
I hope you can understand what I'm saying and think about it.
Maybe I'm just an optimist but I feel this is important.

Sorry for that long winded speech, back to the episode.

Fixit says he has forgotten how beautiful life can be. Cyborg gives him his hand and says that maybe he can teach him.
So the episode ends on a pretty happy note.
We cut back to the park where the Titans are continuing to have a day of fun.
The boy from earlier returns with a friend and says again that he's just like Cyborg.
Cyborg says it's not the arm that makes them alike but what's on the inside.
That's slightly cheesy but I would be lieing if I said it didn't fill my heart with joy.
And the episode ends with Cyborg playing football with the kids. Continuing to enjoy his humanity.
While we, humans, are very flawed creatures and some of us can be complete douchebags humanity is great.
There are some moments and people that make you wonder how we even are the most dominant species on this earth, but there's plenty of kindness and amaziningness out there that make you realize "Eh, humans aren't to bad after all"
Trust me I've been there.
None of us may be perfect but that's just a part of who we are.
I'm being really preachy this episode aren't I. I'm sorry guys I don't mean to hammer this message in its just I feel this is important. You may agree or disagree but either way I feel it's important.

But this isn't a presentation about living a good life, this is a review of one awesome show. So what did I think of the episode.

Eh, it was OK. Nothing special.

OK that was a lie. It was a great episode.
The characters are relateable. Especially Cyborg as you can feel his fear when he thinks he's going to lose his humanity, the thing that makes him......him.
And then there's Fixit who thought that the biological parts on him were a flaw.
As I said earlier we are naturally flawed creatures but that's who we are. We just gotta learn to get past our flaws.
However that's not to say that we shouldn't try to improve. But you shouldn't worry and waste your time trying and be 100% perfect.
Being flawed doesn't make you an awful person.
I like to use this phrase 'perfectly imperfect'

But the true message that this episode was trying to teach was the life is an amazing thing. And it really is.

As for the rest of the characters they're all great as well. The action is good and it has a nice blend of comedy and drama.

It's a great episode.
Best Part-The message at the end.
Worst Part-Uh......I can't think of one. I'll go with a line Beast Boy said when they were chasing Mumbo and saw all the weird crap he was doing. "Well I'll give him this, he's an easy act to follow" or something like that.
It's not a bad joke in fact I like it, I really do, but something needs to be here.

Overall-9.5/10

So yeah an amazing deep episode with a lot of layers. Like an onion or an ogre............. wait I already used that reference and it's still just as unfunny as it was the first time.
Oh.....well then.

So yeah that's the episode.
Hey we're almost done with Chapter 2 of the first season. Next episode will be the finale episode to be a part of Chapter 2.
And it's a milestone as its gonna be our 10th episode.
My god, we're in the double digits.
Well what should I do. Since I reviewed 2 good episodes in a row it looks like I have to do a bad one. But what?
Wait a minute, isn't there a spin-off to this show.
Oh Nooooooo

Quick Thoughts #8-The Big Fairy Share Scare (Fairly Odd Parents)

Last time I talked about Fairly Odd Parents I talked about how much the show has gone through seasonal rot. It's not a bad show its just the writing is not as good. It's not as funny, the characters have been flanderized and they keep adding new characters to try and keep the show a float.
I still like Fairly Odd Parents. I really do. It can still pull through and make a good episode. However, the episodes have gotten worse and worse as time has gone on.
I don't know what happened. Maybe it's because the show shouldn't have lasted 10 seasons.
Either way most people agree Poof and Sparkey were bad additions (some may disagree though. I personally haven't seen enough Sparkey episodes for me to make a judgement on him, as for poof he's ok.)
Anyway I was worried when they announced another new character for season 10 of the show. A girl named Chloe who would be shareing fairies with Timmy. I had no idea how this was gonna work out.
Well it's finally premiered and........it was actually pretty good.
What you expected me to hate it. I actually really enjoyed it.
But I'm apparently on the unpopular opinion side of things when it comes to this.
Many people have said this episode in not good and at the time of this writing it has a 3.4/10 on IMDB.
Jesus what was so bad about this episode. I'm sure you all have good reasons to hate it but personally I really liked this episode.
It's not perfect but it was enjoyable.
So far I feel that 2016 is starting out pretty well in terms of animation.
We got StevenBomb 4 which I'll cover later. We got this which I feel was pretty good.
Heck even Family Guy has gotten a pretty good episode with Candy, Quahog Marshmallow and The Simpsons got The Girl Code which was decent.
The first animated movie of the year Norm of The North currently has a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes but I  haven't seen it yet.
But my point is it seems 2016 is off to a good start. Now let's see how the rest of the year holds up.

Let's talk about this episode though.
Why do I like it. Well let's get into it shall we

Plot-A new girl comes to school named Chloe. She's little miss perfect in the eyes of Timmy and he
instantly has a dislike of her. So he is obviously upset when he finds out that he has to share his
fairies with her. Why you may ask. Well apparently there's been a decline in the supply of fairy god parents. Fair enough I suppose.
So what was the Good, what was the Bad, and what was the Meh

Good-Where do I begin. I guess I should talk about Chloe first. I actually really like this character. She's spunky, smart, kind and is just pure fun to watch. I really like her. Some people say she's a Mary Sue and I can see why but she was still fun enough to make up for that. At least for me anyway. But she still screws up to. I mean that's the reason she got fairies, she kept screwing up. People also say that it's a stupid reason for her to get fairies but it didn't bother me too much. I can see where people come from when they say that though. I mean everyone would get a fairy if screwing up every now and then was a good reason to get one. I also found this episode pretty funny. Fairly Odd Parents can have some stupid humour in it. It worked in the older seasons mostly but as time went on the jokes just got so stupid they're not funny. There's a line with how stupid you can be while still being enjoyable.
The modern odd parents crosses this line way more than the old odd parents.
And I know some of you may say I'm nostalgia blind and am unwilling to see flaws in the old episodes but keep in mind I'm not that old. A lot of modern episodes aired when I was young, during the time I would start feeling nostalgic about.
Same with modern Spongebob. I hate episodes like Good Neighbors and Driven to Tears even though they aired during the time period I would feel nostalgic about.
Heck there are even a few episodes from seasons 1-3 that I don't like that much.
But back on topic I found this episode pretty funny.
Now something I should bring up is that people think Timmy is being flanderized here. Again I can see why but to me I felt all the things Timmy did were in character. Yeah he's kinda selfish here but he's always been a little selfish, and in the end he learns Chloe isn't that bad and has flaws, and thus learns his lesson.
We can see why it would be so hard to share his fairies with Chloe though and we can sympathize
with him. Shareing some things can be hard. And he doesn't act like a complete douchebag. He
doesn't  cross that line into unlikeability.
And it's not like that he doesn't get called out on his actions.
So yeah lots of good here. Lots of good.

Meh/Bad-There are some moments that weren't too good. Some of the jokes fail like sending Timmy to some underground mutated mole civilization or whatever it was. Yeah, not too funny.
So yeah some moments do fall into the Meh category. I also did feel that there were one or two out of  character moments. Like that joke I mentioned earlier, Wanda is totally ok with Timmy going there and doesn't do much to help when he's in clear danger. Yeah, that seemed really out of character.
The pacing was also pretty bad. This episode just goes all over the place.
Timmy wishes there was never a Friday then the anti fairies attack. It doesn't add anything to the plot it's just there.
This episodes pacing is just.....odd.
I don't know how to describe it. You just need to see for yourself to truly understand.

Overall-8.5/10
Yeah I really enjoyed this episode. I can see why people hate it though, but gees a 3.4/10 just seems harsh.

So yeah that was the Big Fairy Share Scare. It was fun though please note this is all personal opinion. There's a chance you will hate this episode.
Respect my opinion an I'll respect yours.

Well thank you guys for reading. Next time I'll cover Steven's Birthday Bomb.
And sorry this is late. I've been busy moving and haven't had much time to just chill and write this blog.
I still plan to keep my promise of 2 Animated Critic episodes a month so episode 9 will be out soon.
It's over The Sum of His Parts from Teen Titans.
So I think that covers it.
Thank you guys for watching
 Peace.

Hello there Evan
Uh...Hello there. Who are you?
Oh you don't remember me cause I remember you. Seems you've made a nice life for yourself. What, sitting on a computer and talking about little kids shows. How nice.
I feel that was sarcasm. Either way sorry I don't recognize you. What's your name?
That's not what's important here. What is important here is revenge.
Revenge? What? I don't even know who you are, how could I do anything to you that's revenge worthy if I don't even know you.
Ha ha ha, well what you did doesn't matter. It's what I'm gonna do that you should worry about.
Enjoy writing this blog. I can assure you this isn't the last time you'll see me.
Wait a minute. Hey. Ugh, great. I gotta deal with this. Well we'll see how this goes. Am I scared? A bit. Some random guy/girl just got on my blog and threatened me. Yeah I'm gonna be a bit scared.
Well hopefully I can deal with this problem. Until then I'll see you guys later.
Peace.

Evan Vs Disney Introduction

I have a lot of cool thing coming up on this blog.
I'm beginning my quest to review every Spongebob episode this month or next.
I'm working on the Powerpuff Marathon that will happen whenever the reboot airs.
Anime Critic is coming soon. (I know it took awhile but I wanted to wait to do it till after my Tokyo Ghoul review. But I'm saying screw it to that.)

But I had this idea pop into my head today.

This is a blog for animation. When you think of that Disney is probably the first thing that comes to mind. And for good reasons too. They helped formed animation into what it is today. I feel like one thing I should do more often is honor what helped shaped this medium. That includes Disney.
So I'm treking through every film in the Disney Animated Canon in order.
From Cinderella to The Rescuers to Tangled to Frozen and everything in between.
Now first let's be clear about what the Disney animated canon actually is.
It does not include Pixar film (so no Toy Story or Inside Out) it also doesn't include Toon Disney films (so no Planes)
Only Walt Disney Studios Movies.
So no other subdivision of Disney (though wouldn't it be cool if Star Wars or the Marvel heroes were in the sane timeline as Frozen or Beauty and The Beast)
For a full list of the Disney Canon check out the Big Catoon Database's List.
This also doesn't include live action films by the way (so no Mary Poppins) just animated ones or mostly animated ones.

Why am I doing this though. Because I love Disney and they really did help shape this medium so I feel I should honor that.
That and I feel it will be extremely interesting to look at the history of this animation giant.

So I'm ready. Let's go. First up on the list is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The review will be out within a couple of weeks. See ya then.

Pig Goat Banana Cricket Episode 1 Re-Review-Animated Critic #6.5

If you ask me I feel as if The Finger review was a turning point for me.
I feel like I finally broke out of my awkward stage with that review.
You may feel differently but I feel like its probably my best review thus far. It's also one of the most well received.
Even though it only got like 22 views it has a high amount of likes compared to other blog post with around the same amount of views. I feel as of right now that review is perfect, at least to my standards.
So recently I took a look at my previous 7 Animated Critic reviews as I'm making a list of my personal favorite reviews for the 1 year anniversary.
Yeah I made mistakes.
I'm still proud of my work as I feel I did a good job explaining overall why I liked or disliked something but there are some moments that aren't so great.
Like maybe a few moments where I didn't explain myself well enough and the fact that there are a lot of spelling errors present.
Also some blatant research issues (If I wasn't sure of Sadie's name I should've just looked it up. I'm an idiot.)
But as I go on I try to learn from my mistakes. I want to make this blog the best it can possibly be so I always try to improve.
Sure I've made mistakes and I'm very dissapointed in myself for that, but I can't give up. I just got to keep moving forward. So this is my way of coming to grip with my mistakes you could say. I want to cover the topic of probably my worst review Pig Goat Banana Cricket.
I still hate this show and I do feel I do a decent job of explaining why.
It's made to pander to kids and my feeling about pandering to the base have not changed, it's characters are all one note, it's jokes are dumb.
It's also extremely stupid.
Now here's something I really should've explained more. What makes something pure dumb and what makes something dumb but still fun.
Well that's a hard one.
I guess it just has to be enjoyable and still be able to get good jokes out of the dumbness.
Like Be Cool Scooby Doo which I actually really like. It's dumb but it has some legitimately funny and fun moments.
Pig Goat Banana Cricket is the kind of dumb that makes you do a double take. You don't laugh you just kinda look at it in amazement that someone thought up of this. Also most of the humour in Pig Goat Banana Cricket is just Goat got mad or Pig is dumb or ha ha we said the word butt.
Be Cool Scooby Doo and heck even Uncle Grandpa have a wider variety of jokes.
This episode just gets repetitive and very tedious very fast.
I should also mention that in Uncle Grandpa and Be Cool Scooby Doo the characters are actually likeable and have personality (well except for Pizza Steve. Screw him.) We still need a good story with good characters no matter how weird and stupid you are trying to be.
That's why Adventure Time took of. Despite some weird ideas and some stupid ones it's still enjoyable to watch as the characters are well made and they tell great stories with their weirdness and stupidity (I'm not trying to use it in a negative connotation here I'm just saying that on paper Adventure Time is a stupidly charming show if you catch what I'm saying.)
Pig Goat Banana Cricket seems to be weird just for weirdness sake.
When I see weird stupid things in Adventure Time I don't think 'oh that was dumb and moronic' because they do neat things with their weirdness. Same with the stupidity of Be Cool Scooby Doo. It's dumb but I never think that as its still a fun show to watch. I still laugh at it and enjoy the characters.
And that occasionally goes for Uncle Grandpa.
With Pig Goat Banana Cricket it just throws dumb joke after dumb joke at me. But as I said non of them are funny. We got a reggae mouse that appears for a few seconds......OK
We've got bad puns
A shopping cart giving birth
Lots of jokes to pander to kids
See this is just weird. They don't tell any funny jokes with stuff or any interesting stories so I'm not invested. And when I look at these scenes I just think 'this is the dumbest thing ever'

So yes I do know that this stuff is supposed to be stupid. The thing is its not enjoyably stupid. It's not funny nor entertaining all it is is dumb.

So that's my Re-Review of Pig Goat Banana Cricket episode 1. My score remains the same.
4/10
I don't think it was necessary for me to go over all my points again. If you wanna see all my other points against this abominable piece of crap read my review of it.

So there you have it. I will do this again if I have to but as of right now I don't think I have to dedicate a whole blog post to Re-Reviewing anything else.
I mean if there's just some minor things I need to bring up that's what I have Extra Thoughts for.

So thank you all for being so good to me for almost a year now. I'll see ya all later.
Peace.
