The Rowdyruff Boys (Powerpuff Girls)-Animated Critic Short #2

"The Powerpuff Girls did rule 63 before it was cool."

Schools finally out. Yes, to my understanding my school got out later than most other schools in the country, but whatever. You know what this means. It's summer and as such I have way more time to spend on this blog and on the Webshow. First things first though. Powerpuff Month(s) continues. This time it's The Rowdyruff Boys. Not much to introduce besides the fact that the Rowdyruff Boys are fan favorite villains and this was their introduction episode.

Overall though this is quite a fun episode. The plot is simple. Mojo Jojo is mad that he keeps losing to the girls and decides to create someone of equal power to them, but more manly. By the way can I just say how he gets the ingredients to make the girls is kind of dumb. He just goes and calls the professor pretending to be a random stranger and the professor happily tells him without any hesitation. Do I really have to explain the stupidity behind that. Yeah I have a recipe to make super humans I'll just give this out to any random person and hope they don't use it for evil. Instead of Sugar, Spice and everything nice though Mojo decides to make boys. Snips and snails and puppy dog tails.....and yes he serious cuts a puppy's tail off. Which funny thing is that's probably the most evil thing Mojo has ever accomplished.

Snips
Snails
And a puppy dog's tail.
These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little boys but Mojo Jojo purposely added an extra ingredient to the concotion. Radioactive toilet water.
Thus the Rowdyruff Boys were born. Using their ultra super powers Brick, Boomer, and Butch have dedicated their lives to fighting good and the forces of kindness.
(Insert awesome montage here!)

The rest of this extended 22 minute episode is a fight scene. Usually when a big chunk of the episode is a fight scene it can get repetitive, but this one never got to that point. It was fun through out the entire thing. Anyway near the end it looks like the girls have died, however thanks to the power of the citizens tears (I'm not even joking) they are revived and figure out a new way to take them down. Kindness. Cause as we all know little boys are constantly living in fear of girls and their yucky cooties.
Thus the day is saved.

So yeah this was a really fun episode. It relied a bit on stereotypes for both genders, but it wasn't to bad. Stereotyping has always been a pet peeve of mine as you could probably tell, but it really didn't bother me to much in this episode as it was kinda underplayed. Plus the rest of the episode is fantastic so it's not enough to take enjoyment away from me. This is the first time I'm talking about Mojo Jojo on a blog post so I figured I should give my opinion on him. He's fricking awesome and funny as crap. He definitely fits in really well with the world of the Powerpuff Girls and is probably one of my favorite villains from the show. Definitely top 3. The Rowdyruff Boys on the other hand are kinda bland. They're just rough and tough characters and all of them feel interchangeable at least in this episode. Like I said they also follow a lot of stereotypes about young boys as well. It's honestly been awhile since I've seen any other episode with them in it so my memories kind of faded as to weather or not they get better. Weather or not they develop more of a personality or not. Either way in this episode they're still bland.
Like I said though a big chunk of this episode is the fight and it's a really fun fight scene. And the part where the girls are thought dead, even though I snarked a bit at how they were revived, was actually kinda emotional. I knew they would live but it still got to me a bit. The episode then ends with the girls being all nice and flirtatious with the boys again cause cooties are gross. It's actually a really funny ending though. This episode all around is just funny. It's not the funniest Powerpuff episode but it's still funny nonetheless. Most episodes with mojo in it though are going to be hilarious.

Overall not a whole lot to say on this one. It's just overall a well done episode that's funny and entertaining to watch.
The Rowdyruff Boys are bland and they do rely on Stereotypes a bit to much but it's still all around fun.

Overall-8/10

We'll thanks for watching. Peace.
