Previously on Animated Critic: Quick Thoughts
We reviewed The Answer and Steven's Birthday. We also found out that the mysterious being that was threatening Evan was his old child hood friend, Adora. She finished her master plan and now Evan only has enough time to write one last blog post. This is said blog post.
We continue with your irregularly scheduled blog post.
Welcome back to Quick Thoughts A.K.A our final blog post.
Man I just.......just can't beleave it's about to end.
Everything, it'll all be gone.
But let's save the depressing stuff for later. We got a blog post to make and I'm not letting Adora stop that.
Let's finish what I started and watch the rest of Steven bomb 4.
I guess we should start where we left off and that's with It Could've Been Great which was the complete opposite of what I expected.
I thought this would be a more fun episode but instead we got.....well I'll talk about what we got instead soon but for now you should know that this episode is essential to watch. It's made mostly to develope the plot of The Cluster Arc.
But even if that wasn't the case you should still watch it as its a well made episode. It's very good.
Plot-The drill is finished and all they need is the coordinates that are required to get to the Cluster.
Unfourtenetly they are only available in an old gem base located on the moon. So they go to the moon with the help of Lion.
There they find some old gem tech and see..........well I can't say what they see. Like I've said many
times before I try to avoid spoilers if I can. So it's an episode where not much may seem to happen at least based on the description I gave you, but a lot does happen.
But let's get on with the good, the meh and the bad.
Good-I really don't know what to say. I mean there's not much to say. This episode really was made solely to continue the current Story Arc and the way the elements they add on to the story are well handled.
When we see what's on the old gem tech we get some reinforcement about how much the gems care for earth and how much they cared for Rose.
In fact that whole last scene when they see what kind of files is on the gem tech is just really powerful.
This episode also starts with a really nice song. It really does a nice job of developing Peridot's
character and how she views the planet.
It was also pretty tense.
Not like Nightmare Hospital tense but I don't know something about that moon base made me tense up. I can't exactly put my finger on it.
It's also pretty fun seeing how excited Peridot is by the moon base and all the gem tech. There's also some good jokes thrown in.
And as always I love the characters.
Meh/bad-nothing
I'm really sorry guys there really isn't anything to say. It was made solely to develope the plot along. It does a nice job of that and is still rather enjoyable.
So overall-8.5/10
I should talk about how this episode ends though as it leads directly into the next episode.
It ends with Peridot stealing a crystal that came from the moon base.
What is this Crystal well.........
Message Received is next. The description for this episode was that Steven has trouble believing people. More specifically Peridot, but it's not really even the main focus of the episode.
Let's get into it though shall we.
The Good, meh, and bad
Plot-In this episode Steven gets Peridot to tell him what the crystal from the last episode is.
When he finds out he starts beginning to feel bad that he kept giving Peridot.
He does trap Peridot in a car but she manages to escape. The rest of the episode is the gems trying to stop Peridot from using the crystal.
Good-HOLY CRAP IS THIS EPISODE GOOD.
I'm sorry but this episode is amazing and is frankly now in my Top 10 favorite episodes. Heck maybe even Top 5.
First let's start with the thing I keep consistently praising with this show, the characters.
Yes they are good here. They're pretty much always good. (Mostly.)
We also see where all this development we've been getting with Peridot leads. Let me say it leads to a frickin awesome moment. That entire last scene is just so awesome. I would say it's definetly her crowning moment of awesome.
This entire episode in general is just so awesome.
We also see a side of Steven we rarely get to see. He feels bad that he lent his trust to Peridot and yet she betrayed him.
This is something that I can really relate to. I've been there. You give someone your trust and they just abuse it.
Let me just say that is not good feeling. Someone you felt was worthy of trust just goes and destroys
it. However as Garnet says in this episode while it's good to be trusting and patient with people some people just don't deserve it. It's a great message to send.
It can hurt but you got to move on into your future and leave them in your past.
The comedy is pretty great as well. I definetly laughed out loud a few times.
The action is pretty cool as well.
It also has a great message at the end. I'll talk more about that in the review of the next episode as it kinda carries on into that episode as well.
And on top of that it's also really tense as we obviously don't want Peridot in the possession of that Crystal.
There's really nothing else to say. That's pretty much it. Not much happens.
Steven locks Peridot in a car and steals her Crystal and then she escapes and takes it back. The gems
chase her then we get the last scene.
For what it does it does it well.
I'm sorry guys the episodes really don't do much. But they are still amazing and worth talking about.
Even though not much happens it's entertaining and enjoyable and does everything really well.
See you don't have to have a lot happen in your episode, it just has to be enjoyable.
It also has 2 nice messages. One about trusting people and the other about life. Like I said I'm gonna talk about the last message later with the review of the next episode as it kinda crosses into the next episode as well.
It may not do much but it does what it does do excellently.
Overall-9.5/10
You only have 5 minutes left.
Whatever, I still have enough time to get out one last review.
The final episode I'll be able to review on this blog.
*sigh* Save the sad stuff for later Evan. Let's try to keep it happy.
The next and final episode of the Steven bomb is Log Date 7 15 2
No not seven fifteen two, it's seven one five two.
This episode is AMAZING.
I know I've been saying it throughout this entire review but I'm sorry, this bomb just has so many good episodes.
Out of all of them though this is my favorite.
And it's mostly because of the message this episode has.
Plot-Peridot is in turmoil over what happened in the last episode. She gives her tape recorder to Steven and he decides to give it a listen.
I'm not gonna do my normal Good, Meh and bad format cause really there's not much to say. There's even less to say about this than there is about It Could've Been Great.
This episode really shows Peridot's development come full circle.
This is pretty much just Peridot experiencing life on earth and they do it in the most beautiful way possible.
We see Peridot learning about the beauty of life. From simple things like seeing a ladybug fly to things like love. She even gets addicted to a TV show.
This episode while good on its own works way better if you watched all the other episodes leading up to this (starting with Catch and Release).
We've seen Peridot develop with the way she views the world and the relationships she shares with the gems. Here it all comes to a close.
This episode is solely about Peridot experiencing the world. All the small things that makes it so great.
Remember that message I was talking about. Well the message is that the world is complex and so very intriguing. And most of all Beautiful.
Coincidently I recently reviewed another episode with a similar message.
The Sum of His Parts from Teen Titans.
I did it before seeing this episode.
It's my least viewed Animated Critic episode and I feel I came off a little too preachy. So let me take a moment to right the wrongs of the past.......and by that I mean not even a month ago.
I love the message in this episode. Life is beautiful and it's really the small things that make it such an enjoyable experience. Little happy moments spent alone observing the nature or maybe spent with friends having fun. Just little moments like that that you don't honk much about but when you look back just make you smile.
Life is cruel and unforgiving I realize this but you can't give up. You just have to keep moving forward and get past the obstacles. It's easier said than done but if you can do it you will find something beautiful.
This episode also develops Peridot's and Garnet's relationship. Which was done in a very heartwarming way.
The comedy is there as well and it's hilarious. All the jokes hit just right and all made me laugh.
And that's pretty much all there is to say. It's a simple but well done and meaningful episode. I love it. I really do.
We get full development on Peridot and I don't think it could've been handled any better.
Overall Score-9.5/10
So that was Steven bomb 4. It was provably the biggest one yet. So much happened.
How does it compare to other Steven bombs. Well it's one of the best.
It had a lot of really good, emotional, happy, funny moments and the over arching theme about the beauty of the world was well done. So overall it was fantastic to say the least.
Well I guess that's it. My last review what a heck of a way to go.
And Like always your not fighting back. Your succumbing to your weaknesses no matter how bad they may make your life
Yeah I guess I am a weak fool. But you know what this blog has giving me a chance to express myself and put myself out there all the while talking about something I love.
We had our fun times,
and our not so fun times.

I've made mistakes and have screwed up but I still had a lot of fun writing this blog.
And those memories I made while watching these toons and writing this blog are memories I will never forget.
But most of all I wanna thank you.
You have no idea how happy I get when I see someone viewed my post.
How happy get when I see people comment or click the +1 button. Seeing people actually care for what I do makes me so happy.
So I guess all I really wanna say here is thank you.
How touching. Well times up say goodbye to everything you care about.
Wait one second though. You really don't think that I care more about this blog than anything else do you?
What are you trying to say?
I'm trying to say this blog is just a hobby for me. I care about it immensely but what I care more about are the people I've come to know and care about, and trying to be a good person. I would get rid of this entire blog at the drop of a hat if i had to pick between this or my friends and family.
Don't feed me that crap. If you really care so much why did you abandon me. Why did you leave.
Listen, Adora. I'm sorry for whatever I did to you.
A sorry doesn't exactly work when you DON'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT YOU DID.
You know what there's no point in reasoning with you. Your a blind idiot. A fool. Say bye bye to your precious blog.
.......................................................
What? Why didn't it work. It's still here. Why?
Did your little plan back fire?
Shut up! I......what.......what happened.
I think I can explain that.
Kevin!
Yes it is me. Please save your applause till the end of the end of the show.
You again?! What have you done?
It was simple. I got a few of my tech guardian angel friends. I'm not a tech expert but I'll try to explain the best I can. We put up a much stronger fire wall around this place so it's gonna take more than a push of a button and some simple coding to get past it.
Ha ha ha. The tables have turned, Adora.
Gah......ah.....I.........ugh.
Well this has been an unfortunate, unexpected happening.
I will be back Evan, this isn't the last you've heard of me.
Yeah leave, and take those cliche lines with you.
Ha ha, that was awesome Kevin. Thank you.
No problem. This is what I'm here for.
Well guess this isn't the last time you'll see me guys.
The show is going on.
Thank you for watching and next time we'll be covering........more Steven Universe.
Ha ha....
Peace
